Washington Women in Theatre

Promoting theatre and music projects from the perspective of women+ for 20 years

OUR MISSION

Washington Women in Theatre (WWIT) is a project of Creative Music Workshop, Inc., a not-for-profit school and theatre.

WWIT, for the past 20 years, has been providing women+ writers and composers in the DC area the opportunity and platform to respond to the political, social, and historical issues of our day.  Founded by Sidra Rausch and Karen Berman, WWIT has attracted some of DC’s most informed and insightful women+ artists who have cherished the opportunity to provide context and perspective to unfolding events both personal and political.

WWIT presented its premiere performance on August 11, 2003 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

Washington Women in Theatre is committed to supporting anti-racist policies, supporting Black Lives Matter, and supporting equity and justice. We are committed to listening to and producing the voices of the unheard and unseen, giving power to BIPOC in our organization in all ways. We are committed to supporting empowerment for female-identifying women+ and endorsing women's rights.
